Abstract

Analysis of Air Environmental Health Quality Based on PM₂.₅ and PM₁₀ Concentrations Across Regions and Time Periods in DKI Jakarta

Background: Air quality is an important environmental determinant of public health, particularly due to exposure to particulate matter (PM₂.₅ and PM₁₀). Objective: This study aimed to analyze air quality based on PM₂.₅ and PM₁₀ concentrations across regions and time periods in the Special Capital Region of Jakarta (DKI Jakarta), Indonesia. Method: A quantitative observational study was conducted using secondary data obtained from the Jakarta Open Data Portal (Satu Data Jakarta) from December 2024 to November 2025. A total of 1,561 observations from five air quality monitoring stations were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Results: Average PM₂.₅ and PM₁₀ concentrations of 68.86 µg/m³ and 44.66 µg/m³, respectively. Significant differences in PM₂.₅ and PM₁₀ concentrations were found across regions and months (p<0.05), but not across days of observation (p>0.05). East Jakarta recorded the highest PM₁₀ concentration, while West Jakarta had the highest PM₂.₅ concentration. Particulate levels peaked in June and were lowest in January and November. Conclusion: The average PM₂.₅ concentration exceeded both the Indonesian national standard and the WHO guideline, indicating that PM₂.₅ remains a major air quality concern in DKI Jakarta. Strengthened emission control measures are therefore needed to improve air quality and protect public health.
